Research and Sponsored Programs
The mission of the Office of Research and Sponsored Programs is to support the University’s goals for excellence in teaching, service, and scholarship through externally funded grants and contracts. The Office works with investigators to pursue external funding, manage post-award activities, and ensure compliance for regulatory matters. The Office works in collaboration with the Offices of Institutional Advancement, Finance Division, Deans, Provost Office, Human Subject Research Board, and Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee to provide grant-related services to investigators. The Office supports activities and programs to develop a research culture through research forums, blitzes, and outreach.
Functions and responsibilities of the Office of Research and Sponsored Programs include:
- Review and process grant and contract proposals to outside funding agencies and organizations
- Negotiate agreements for the University with funding agencies and organizations
- Negotiate and prepare subcontracts to other institutions and organizations
- Assist investigators with identifying funding sources and preparing proposals
- Maintain a grant database and generate reports on proposal and award activities
- Ensure compliance regulations affecting research in meeting all regulatory requirements
- Support administrative functions relating to its intellectual property and research outreach
